Built into the Swiss Alps,  Villa Vals is my ideal choice to cocoon me from the winter deep. 

Yes, yes......this may not be new to many of you, but I think we can all agree that this is where we would all like to be right now!
The structure was envisioned by Dutch architects Bjarne Mastenbroek and Christian Müller.   Rentals available mid-week, weekend and week long.   Perfection!

Birgit Ostergaard

Birgit Ostergaard's lights have a such a heavenly quality to them.  I picture them as glowing beacons in our harsh urban environment.  They guide the lost and give them peace. Well, I am not sure that they can do that, but they are just beautiful!

Cassandra Smith

I love when I can share with you local artists in the community that I live.  These antlers were made by Cassandra Smith.  I am really liking the matte and metallic finish on these!  They are cruelty-free shed antlers and are available through her Etsy store and select stores across the country.  Cassandra Smith is also the co-founder of Fine Line, which is an international fine art magazine.  Check it out!

Look at that rack!  Did you know that deer shed their antlers every year after mating season - usually between January and April.  Every year the process begins again and each year their rack, er...antlers will grow in size, which will help attract females and fight other males during the mating season.

Fredericks & Mae

The duo Fredericks & Mae (Jolie Mae Signorile and Gabriel Fredericks Cohen) have a knack for taking my favorite materials and making them into little objects of beauty.  Using thread, feathers, beads, paint and wood, their projects are humble and beautiful!

Relics

A friend of mine was recently contracted to dismantle an out-of-commission airplane .....yes, scrap an entire plane.  Sounds both daunting and fun.  From that plane, I received 2 very amazing gifts.  2 metal ashtrays straight from the cockpit with lingering cigarette smoke included.   Smoker or not, these are quite the gift!  Now, I am just thinking of where I should install them?

BAVARIA in 30

Bavarian icons by Human Empire for Neuland magazine.

Just the word Bavaria seems magical to me.  Ancient forests, wooden houses and a BMW after the same name.  I mean c'mon!  These icons certainly feed in to that imagery.  Although Americans are notorious for romanticizing anything European, I love these smart little icons!  I will chop wood and eat bratwurst any day.

Troy Moth

I spent a good portion of my morning looking at Troy Moth's photographs.  I was so taken by the images, I just didn't know which ones to show.  There is nothing contrived about these images.  In fact, they are just plain beautiful!
