Bottom photos my own from a recent trip to Chicago. These were found right near Buckingham Fountain.
I am thinking my fascination with scrap wood or these palettes stems from growing up on a farm and having memories of stacks and stacks of palettes lining the shed...stacked with firewood or grain seed. Of course, ours were never this colorful.
