20 Houses for 20 Friends

Series of 20 sculptures created by Ron Gilad (Designfenzider) entitled
20 Houses for 20 Friends. (2010)

Each house has been shipped off and sold to his friends, but I just love looking at them all together.  Forming an abstract village filled with the people that you love.  Today, I am going to think of 20 people that I would include in my village.

We do Wood - Denmark

We Do Wood: Dining Chair No1, Lilly Chair, Dining Table No1.
I am so in love with this collection by We Do Wood.....especially the chubby children's chair (Lilly), which is just a shorter, more playful version of the adult Dining Chair No1.

LIGHT

We celebrate light by adorning it and arranging it.........creating shades and bulbs and fixtures.  It is a beautiful tribute to light itself. I thought of these two lights, for I feel these creations have attempted to make light more beautiful and have succeeded.

TSTO Agency

Very Classic Concentration!

TSTO created this for Vuoden Huiput (VH) 2010.  VH is Finland's yearly design awards for best in advertising and graphics.

Best if I let them describe the process of creating this: "Together with a programmer we created an application that transformed any written word or sentence into a rebus, an allusional device that uses pictures to represent words or parts of words. In English, a rebus often uses homonyms, as seen in the classic IBM logo consisting of a picture of an eye, a picture of a bee and the letter M. However, homonyms are rare in Finnish language, therefore a rebus was constructed from a list of some 5000 words with the most used syllables and matched with an image search result from Google."  Interesting, huh?

Czech Republic

There happens to be a new online interior decoration magazine from the Czech Republic called Bohemia Living.  I got an email notification that the first issue is out, so I will be checking it out later today.  Renata from Kokino Home Blog is one of the contributors and not only does she have a great blog, but she is such a nice woman as well.  Good luck!

This is the only picture I have when we were in the Czech Republic.  I guess since we were there for only 1 day, 1 picture will suffice.  We were able to spend the night at someone's house (which is always nice.....how come Europe has such good manners?).  In the morning, everyone left to walk into town and I opted to stay in and gets some peace and quiet.  This is the pic I took.

USM Haller

I wish USM Haller would sponsor me just for reading.

I am in serious need of more book space.  Last weekend the Milwaukee Art Museum (to my surprise!) was having their book sale from their private library and this book sale only happens every 2 or 3 years....so, I was in real luck for being there.  The books were cheap and plentiful...so that meant buying all the books to your hearts content while trying to remember how you were going to carry these back to the car!   Well 30 books later......and I am in need of some space.  I just wanted to let USM how beautiful their bookcases are and that I would be great representation of their company! Smile.
