20 Houses for 20 Friends

Series of 20 sculptures created by Ron Gilad (Designfenzider) entitled
20 Houses for 20 Friends. (2010)

Each house has been shipped off and sold to his friends, but I just love looking at them all together.  Forming an abstract village filled with the people that you love.  Today, I am going to think of 20 people that I would include in my village.

Eugene Von Bruenchenhein

Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, a native Wisconsinite and outsider artist, is mostly known for his apocalyptic paintings. However, he also made ceramic sculptures and has a large photography collection of his wife. His wife Marie, shown above, was his muse and source of inspiration for all of his art work. I had the pleasure of seeing his work at the Kohler Arts Center a little over a year ago. Von Bruenchenhein's work is also in the permanent collection at the National Folk Art Museum.

A plaque over the kitchen door of his house read: "Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, Free Lance Artist, Poet and Sculptor, innovator, Arrow maker and Plant man, Bone artifacts constructor, Photographer and Architect Philosopher."
