Eugene Von Bruenchenhein
Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, a native Wisconsinite and outsider artist, is mostly known for his apocalyptic paintings. However, he also made ceramic sculptures and has a large photography collection of his wife. His wife Marie, shown above, was his muse and source of inspiration for all of his art work. I had the pleasure of seeing his work at the Kohler Arts Center a little over a year ago. Von Bruenchenhein's work is also in the permanent collection at the National Folk Art Museum.
A plaque over the kitchen door of his house read: "Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, Free Lance Artist, Poet and Sculptor, innovator, Arrow maker and Plant man, Bone artifacts constructor, Photographer and Architect Philosopher."
